Verónica Sousa, M.A. in Anthropology with a Certificate in Gender and Sexuality Studies, is a PhD candidate in Medical Anthropology at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon, and an adjunct lecturer in Anthropology at the University of Maryland. Her doctoral project, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, concerns local negotiations regarding care, harm, and risk in elder care relationships, with a focus on the politics of social inequality, loss, intimacy, gender, disability, and pharmaceuticals in Catholic elder care centers in COVID-19 Lisbon.
