Who We Are
The Injury Studies Network is an international community of researchers, practitioners, artists, and advocates committed to the interdisciplinary study of injuries. Focusing on unintentional injuries and acts of violence, we examine the ways individuals and groups live with and make meaning out of harmful events.
Our work draws on content and methods from several fields to analyze the perception, control, representation, and experience of injuries. The Network serves as a hub for projects related to injuries and has three objectives: to support collaboration; to provide models for graduate and undergraduate education; and to inform public health, clinical medicine, and health policy.
What we do
The Injury Studies Network offers multiple opportunities for knowledge production, feedback, and collaboration. We hold monthly working group sessions where our members are invited to discuss their current and future projects; arrange workshops, conferences, and roundtables on injuries; plan panels for external events; and have started preparing scholarship, resource lists, artwork, and curriculum materials tied to injury studies.
The Injury Studies Network is open to anyone with an intellectual, technical, creative, or social interest in injuries. If you want to learn more about the Network or join our mailing list, please click the “Connect” tab or email Alex Parry at alexander_parry@urmc.rochester.edu.
